High Performance Leaders
Are you working in a company or law firm where leaders fully appreciate the importance of leadership development and leadership coaching? How do leaders in your company or law firm view the importance of developing good leadership skills?
One of the most powerful questions one can ask is “Does our company leadership encourage leaders to fully develop their leadership skills?” Emotionally intelligent and socially intelligent leaders are highly motivated to improve their leadership skills.
Principles of Masterful Coaching
Executive coaching as a profession is in its emergent stages, so that it is impossible for any one person, group, or training school to be able to say they have the model for the most effective coaching system. However, experienced practitioners will agree there are some principles and standards that make for a masterful coaching experience.
Mary Beth O’Neill in her book Executive Coaching with Backbone and Heart (Jossey-Bass 2000) suggests the following:
- Keep business results and human processes linked
- Encourage a stronger relationship between the executive and his or her team
- Build the leader’s capacities to state positions clearly (backbone) and to stay in strong relationship with the team (heart)
- Create real time feedback opportunities
Working with a seasoned executive coach trained in emotional intelligence and incorporating leadership assessments such as the Bar-On EQ-i and CPI 260 can help you become a leader who develops effective interpersonal relationships. You can become a leader who models emotional intelligence and social intelligence, and who inspires people to become happily engaged and aligned with the vision and mission of your company or law firm.
